For children, it was a labour of love

A few days ago, a group of children from Tandirayankuppam, NGOs and volunteers joined forces in order to rid Serenity Beach of all kinds of waste.

Together, they removed garbage, plastic bags, empty cigarette packs, cigarette stubs and put up trash cans as well as sign boards in several languages.

This multicultural team was made up of young Tamil children, NGO PondyCan, Xavier Quemener, a French teacher at Lycée Français, his brother Eric, French artist and a lot of other volunteers who took part in this clean-up initiative.

Among them was Florent Dupin, a student from Alliance Française Pondichéry who acted as French-Tamil translator, an essential task in the cooperation between the volunteers of various nationalities. Thanks to this multi-cultural collaboration, Serenity Beach has been restored to its natural estate.
