On October 1, we are proud to host the French Volunteer Day and the launch of “Espace Volontaires” in South India. This indeed has already been endorsed by sending volunteers from the association France Volontaires to the Alliance française de Pondichéry under its youth international solidarity mission, which has been an ever growing partnership between the two institutions. Therefore, right from 1st October, the Alliance will open a new branch office of France Volontaires in its Maison Colombani premises. This office will aim to bring together the various volunteering agents in South India and become a focal point for sharing information and by linking various NGOs in the field with volunteers present and available in office. 1st October will be partly dedicated to the French Volunteer Day with exchanges, discussions and debates on key issues, and also with the launch of the new branch office of France Volontaires based at the Alliance française de Pondichéry. A friendly day under the stamp of solidarity!

1st October, AFP auditorium 15h30

As part of the launch of the partnership between the Alliance française de Pondichéry and the Association France Volontaires, you are invited to discover “Views on the commitment of solidarity,” a beautiful photographic exhibition showing the different faces of solidarity as defined today. Aligning culture and solidarity, this exhibition turns into a beautiful showcase displaying the newly woven ties between the two structures.

3rd to 24th October at Maison Colombani, 9.00h to 19.00h

An evening with Akash Kapur and William Dalrymple

Both writers give you an appointment for a literary evening combining knowledge of Indian history, analysis of the present and visions of the future of this great country. Le retour d’un roi : la bataille d’Afghanistan by William Dalrymple and L’Inde de demain by Akash Kapur, have just been published in French. This is an opportunity to witness a dialogue between a well known British Historian on South Asia with one of the younger talents of Indian Literature, hailing from Pondicherry.

17th October at Maison Colombani, 19.00h

In terms of film, we decided to continue to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War by screening the Apocalypse series, First World War, in English. Five documentaries in all with unedited colorized images, offer a realistic and educational vision to better address the truth of horror. The cycle will conclude with a screening of Captain Conan, the legendary film by Bertrand Tavernier, which is set in one of the operations of the Great War, the Eastern front often poorly known. Enjoy the show!

Each Sunday of the month at 18.00h, AFP Auditorium.
